A matter of particular pertinence in the contemporary geopolitical landscape pertains to the advent of nascent global powers that are seeking to leverage their economic and political capabilities to challenge the unipolar international order and enhance their role in global governance. From this perspective, certain scholars posit that a unipolar system is inherently unstable and may ultimately provoke the formation of coalitions against the hegemon. In this context, Iran seeks to balance such power asymmetries by combining its domestic capabilities with strategic alliances, particularly through engagement with prominent global institutions such as BRICS, as a means to counteract international unilateralism. In this regard, Iran has adopted a revisionist strategy that aims to mitigate and neutralize the influence of threatening states without engaging in direct confrontation. Accordingly, the central research question of this study is as follows: It is imperative to examine the approach adopted by Iran during the 2023 BRICS Summit. This analysis will elucidate the objectives pursued by Iran through its involvement in this global coalition. The study hypothesizes that Iran, adopting a revisionist stance toward the inequitable structure of the international system, seeks to deepen engagement with emerging power centers by strengthening its economic foundations and political relationships, while deliberately limiting cooperation with hegemonic powers. These efforts are strategically oriented toward delegitimizing and countering the unilateral and hegemonic structures of the international system, objectives that Iran operationalizes through formal membership in BRICS. Methodologically, the study employs a revisionist theoretical framework to interpret the research problem, and the research design is descriptive-analytical.
